TRUSTEE’S DIVISION

ANNUAL REPORT 2009

As chairman of the Greenbrier County Public Library Trustees we formed an organization to petition the county commissioners to make available to us monies from the Hotel/Motel Tax. We have been attending the commissioner’s meetings on a rotating basis. [We did receive $85,000 fron the tax.]

We are preparing to meet to change the wording regarding public libraries in the Comprehensive Study completed for Greenbrier County.

On the state level, I sent letters to all trustees, whom Julie Spiegler had names and addresses for before Spring Fling, asking them to do three things for me:

#1 If they are not a member of WVLA to please join. [Our library pays our fee.]

#2 Please attend Spring Fling on Thursday, as there would be programs for the trustees. I explained I knew some of them work, but the programs were beneficial in carrying out their duties as trustees.

#3 They plan to attend legislative day. So the legislature and the Governor will realize we are a force to be reckoned with when it comes to funds for public libraries.

I have run for a fourth term as state president. There are some more goals I would like to attain, especially seeing the trustees organized in a forceful, powerful and informed organization.
