Accomplishments/Activities
for 2005-2006:
October 4, 2005 - WVLA Conference Roundtable Meeting
Celene Seymour was re-elected roundtable chair.
There was a discussion of the Pre-conference on library marketing and if it is a good idea to schedule pre-conferences in the future. The need to encourage library staff to begin participating in WVLA and ACRL conferences was also discussed, including funding incentives for first-time attendants (perhaps paid for by vendors).
April 6, 2006 - WVLA Spring Fling Roundtable Meeting
Although only four members attended, we began a conversation about a number of issues important to members -- academic accreditation, communication among members, and academic track for WVLA fall conference. Minutes of the meeting were distributed to members. Some of these issues were addressed during the roundtable meeting in May.
May 24, 2006 - Roundtable Meeting at MUGC in
Eleven directors and guests attended this meeting. John Sheridan took over maintenance of the roundtable Listserv. A number of issues were raised that members felt should be addressed in future meetings, including librarian evaluation and promotion process and support for library faculty research.
