Creator Dr. Christie Koontz (Florida State University) will present
a workshop on how to use this new library tool. GeoLib's mission is
two fold: first, to improve access to digital geographic information
in libraries, regardless of whether the information is desired by
library users or by library managers, and second, to apply marketing
solutions to library problems. WVLC is one of several state library
agencies who are actively supporting use of this tool nationwide.

This presentation begins with a description of Google, the company,
and how it impacts your results. This will be followed a review of
special features and functions with simple to advanced search

“LIBRARY & ARCHIVAL PROJECTS ON THE WEB”
PRESENTER: DIANE SHAW, SPECIAL COLLECTIONS CATALOGER, SMITHSONIAN
INSTITUTION
SUPPORT FOR THIS PROGRAM PROVIDED BY WVU LIBRARIES.
This presentation will give an overview of some of the various types
of online projects done by libraries and archives in the United
States, with a discussion of their suitability for particular
situations and kinds of materials. The speaker will address some of
the chief elements of effective online projects and suggest
resources that might be useful in planning an online project. The
(largely non-technical) presentation is designed for a general
audience of library and archival professionals who are interested in
seeing some of the ways they can use the Internet to highlight their
collections.

PRESENTERS: RAY & JUDY SCHMITT, SUSAN HAYDEN
Ray & Judy Schmitt, two of WV’s leading indie filmmakers, will
present their newest films, including a documentary featuring Susan
Hayden’s daughter, Abby Wathen and “The Texture of Life – The Tusing
Sisters of Branch Mountain," which profiles two Mennonite sisters in
Hardy County who rarely left the family farm and who became famous
for their coverlets and weaving.

Beth Royall, Creative Arts Librarian at West Virginia University,
will demonstrate uses of a free software package used with faculty
to create art slide shows. She will discuss possible other uses for
the software for organizing your library’s images.

of access to scholarly journal article information, managing serials
