University of Central Florida football players and Librarians shared the conference hotel. The UCF Golden Knights were there to play Marshall University in a televised game. UCF won in a heartbreaking 23-22 night game the last day of the conference. Matthew Matthew McConaughey was in town to promote the film We Are Marshall. He led the Herd onto the field.

Friends of Libraries U.S.A. added the Wise Library to its Literary Landmark Registry because of the library's connection to the late Dr. Louise McNeill Pease, Poet Laureate of West Virginia from 1977-1993. Martha Yancey, Frances O'Brien, Penny Pugh, and Harold Forbes with the commemorative plaque.

Ralph Oppenheim. Everyone in Huntington is interested in Hollywood these days because of "We Are Marshall." One person who left Hollywood to move to Huntington is the new popular services coordinator at the Cabell County Public Library, Ralph Oppenheim.
